In the Soft Drawing collection of paintings, the colors and the natural forms change as the layers increase. Using cardboard and flat brushes as well as sheets of mylar as a printing mechanism, Joan elan Davis layers her drawings onto the canvas surface. As drawings go from graphite, to charcoal to poured pigment the layers create a present, past and future. Soft applications of metallic and interference pigment add an a even deeper layer of meaning as the secrets of nature are captured in the Soft Drawing collection of compositions.
